Dan:
•  Dan Groussman’s first love is designing and making custom leather goods that he bench-builds entirely by hand.  For over 25 years he’s traveled the American craft circuit exhibiting at art shows and festivals and still pops up his leather shop at the Fremont Sunday Market in Seattle on select Sundays.  He is also a maker of fine furniture and holds an MFA in wood design.  He taught high school and university art courses and led several student travel expeditions both domestic and internationally.  He has held numerous commission, committee and board positions while representing the arts in his community.

Dan’s held several jobs during his lifetime that seem to have unknowingly prepared him for his current position as Experience Enabler. He’s worked at jobs that all seem to balance people and their needs/desires with the logistics required to meet the group’s goal, all while working in high-intensity environments. He’s been a waiter, a bartender, head cook for a 25-resident sorority house, head cook for an 80-kid summer camp, financial manager for a nightclub, wedding photographer, nursing aide on a locked psychiatric unit, behavioral training specialist for mentally handicapped group home adults and children and printing press operator.  He taught Design and Art History at a university, taught high school students and middle school art classes in his hometown, co-founded and chaired a hugely successful non-profit art school, event planner and vision-realizer. Little did Dan know that all those random yet people-oriented earlier-in-life jobs were actually the perfect training regimen to prepare him as your travel host at Sure Flaneur Travel.

Dan, Experience Enabler:
• Dan is wonderful to travel with. He’s travelled extensively for over 30 years but to Southeast Asia in particular since 2001. Dan is a good storyteller, observant and respectful of others and likes to contribute to group dynamics by catalyzing opportunities. He’s knowledgable about the history of the locations he travels to and is a good source to tap for understanding not only the complicated history of the places we’ll visit but also all the fascinating new things travelers who travel with him want to know. He’s fun and energetic and thoughtful, but most of all, he’s experienced. He’s traveled to Vietnam more than 40 times often for several weeks at a time. Dan is the perfect logistics-handler for your small-group SE Asian trip.

Dan’s Travel Philosophy:
• Dan believes in keeping the world small through the good old gap-bridging act of overseas travel.  He believes that travel brings out the best in us by encouraging us to engage in humankind’s most vital attributes:  observing, learning and interacting.  He sees magical travel moments happen every trip and loves sharing those moments with family, friends and now with travelers interested in jumping on a plane to join him.

Dan's Mission:
•  Dan loves Vietnam, its weird and wonderful features, its people and the experiences he has had there.  He enjoys sharing his discoveries with other travelers and organizing all the logistics required for a smooth and rewarding adventure abroad.  Through a knowledge of the history, current & past cultural norms, a fair bit of the language and a knack for storytelling, Dan's position as an Experience Enabler is his apparent dream job.  As Experience Enabler for Sure Flaneur Travel, Dan strives to provide those wanting to open themselves up to a bit of Vietnam and Cambodia - a 2 or 3-week slice of perfectly balanced itinerary, unlimited pre-trip prep assistance and 24/7 on-the-ground travel support while abroad. He’s cooked up a few reliable recipes that mean a rewarding SE Asia travel experience for you.  Travel with Dan - he's happy when you're happy and works hard to make it so.  Welcome!
